How to Install Binance on Xiaomi HyperOS? HyperOS Security Scan Handling Tutorial

Starting in late 2023, Xiaomi phones began fully rolling out the HyperOS system, replacing the MIUI system that had been used for years. The new system made several adjustments to security policies, particularly adding stricter security scanning mechanisms for external APK installations. Many users report that after downloading the Binance APK, they are intercepted by the system with a prompt saying "This app is risky, recommended to download from the app store," or the APK file is even directly flagged as a virus. In reality, this is merely a false positive from Xiaomi's system security software. As the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance's official APP is safe and reliable. Your first step is to register an account via the Binance official website to ensure you are using the official, genuine channel. Then, obtain the latest Android installation package from the Binance official APP download page, which is safer than acquiring it from any third-party channel. If you are using an Apple device rather than a Xiaomi phone, it is recommended to refer to the iOS installation guide for iPhone-specific installation instructions. This tutorial applies to the Xiaomi 14 series, Xiaomi 13 series, Xiaomi Civi series, Xiaomi MIX series, and all other Xiaomi phones running HyperOS, while also covering older Xiaomi devices still on MIUI 14.

Understanding the HyperOS Security Scan Mechanism

Xiaomi's HyperOS inherited the security scan features from MIUI and upgraded them. When you attempt to install an APK file downloaded from outside the app store, the system automatically triggers a security scan involving the following levels:

The first level is local virus database matching. The system's built-in Security Center compares the APK file's signature information against the local virus database; if a match is found, it intercepts it immediately.

The second level is cloud security detection. The system uploads the APK's hash value to Xiaomi's cloud security platform for analysis, which requires an internet connection.

The third level is app source verification. The system checks the download source of the APK; if it isn't the Xiaomi App Store or another trusted source, it issues additional risk warnings.

Because the Binance APP is not listed in the Xiaomi App Store, it essentially triggers the second and third levels of risk warnings. However, this does not mean the APP itself has problems; it simply means the Xiaomi system doesn't recognize the application.

Preparations Before Installation

Confirm System Version

Go to "Settings > My device > Detailed info and specs" to check your system version. If the version number starts with "Xiaomi HyperOS", your phone is running the HyperOS system. If it starts with "MIUI", you are still on the older MIUI system, and the installation method differs slightly (both are covered in this article).

Ensure Sufficient Storage Space

The Binance APP installation package is about 80MB, and after installation, plus operational cache, it requires at least 300MB of free space. Check storage space: Settings > My device > Storage space.

Confirm Network Connection

Downloading the APK requires a stable network connection; using WiFi is recommended. Also, ensure your network can access the Binance official website normally.

Detailed Steps to Install Binance on HyperOS

Step 1: Download the APK File

Open the built-in Xiaomi browser or Chrome browser, visit the Binance official website, find the APP download page, and select the Android version to download.

During the download, the Xiaomi browser might pop up a prompt: "Risky file detected, continue downloading?" Click "Continue downloading". If the browser directly blocks the download, you can try switching to the Chrome browser.

Step 2: Disable Security Scan Interception

This is the most critical step. There are two methods to bypass the security scan:

Method A: Select "Continue Installing" During Installation

After downloading, click install, and the system will pop up the security scan results. If it says "This app has not passed Xiaomi's security audit" or similar, look closely at the bottom of the page for a "Continue installing" or "I understand the risks, continue installing" button. In some versions, this button is quite hidden, might require waiting a few seconds to appear, or requires you to scroll down manually to see it.

Method B: Disable the Security Scan Feature

If Method A doesn't work (some HyperOS versions completely block the installation), you need to manually turn off the security scan feature:

  1. Open the "Security" app (also called "Security Center").
  2. Click the gear icon in the top right corner to enter settings.
  3. Find the "Security scan" or "App installation scan" option.
  4. Turn off the "Scan before installing" or "Scan when installing" switch.

After turning it off, try installing the Binance APK again, and it shouldn't be intercepted. It is recommended to turn the security scan back on after installation.

Step 3: Authorize Installation Permissions

If this is your first time installing an APK file on your Xiaomi phone, the system will ask you to authorize the app used to download the APK (the browser) with the "Install unknown apps" permission.

When the system pops up the permission request, click "Settings", then turn on the "Allow apps from this source" switch. Afterwards, return to the installation page to continue installing.

If you missed the permission request pop-up, you can set it manually: Settings > Privacy protection > Special permissions > Install unknown apps > find your browser > turn on the switch.

Step 4: Complete Installation

Once permissions are set, the system will proceed with the normal installation process. Wait for the installation to finish, then click "Open" to launch the Binance APP.

Installation Method for MIUI Systems

If your Xiaomi phone is still running MIUI (MIUI 12, 13, or 14), the installation steps are similar to HyperOS, but with the following differences:

In MIUI, the path to turn off the security scan is: Security app > Settings (gear icon) > Security scan > Turn off "Scan before installing".

In MIUI, the path to authorize installation permissions is: Settings > Privacy protection > Special permissions > Install unknown apps.

MIUI's security interceptions are generally less strict than HyperOS; in most cases, simply clicking "Continue installing" on the installation pop-up will let you through.

Post-Installation Optimization Settings

Prevent Being Killed in the Background

Xiaomi's background management is highly aggressive, defaulting to killing unused app processes shortly after the screen locks. For an app like Binance that needs to receive real-time market notifications, you need to make the following settings:

  1. Go to "Settings > Battery > App battery saver", find Binance, and set it to "No restrictions".
  2. In the recent tasks interface (swipe up and hold), find the Binance task card, long-press or pull down to "Lock" it (a padlock icon will appear).
  3. Go to "Settings > Apps > Manage apps > Auto-start", find Binance, and turn on its auto-start switch.

Enable Notification Permissions

Settings > Notifications & Control center > find Binance > Turn on "Allow notifications", and ensure all notification types (sound, vibration, banners, lock screen) are enabled.

For price alerts and trading notifications, you also need to enable the corresponding push options within the settings of the Binance APP itself.

Turn Off App Store Automatic Update Checks

The Xiaomi App Store might detect the Binance APP and attempt to "update" it (essentially replacing it with a non-existent version in their store), which can cause issues. It is recommended to turn off the "Auto updates" feature in the Xiaomi App Store settings.

What to Do If "Installation Package Incompatible with System"

In rare cases, the downloaded APK might be incompatible with your phone's architecture. Modern Xiaomi phones are basically all ARM64 architecture, but if you downloaded an installation package tailored for another architecture from an unofficial source, compatibility issues will arise.

The solution is simple: ensure you download the APK from the Binance official website. The official website provides a universal installation package compatible with all mainstream phone architectures.

Handling Binance APP Crashing After Installation on Xiaomi Phones

If the installation is successful but the app crashes upon opening, you can troubleshoot with these steps:

First, check the system version. The Binance APP requires Android 6.0 and above, corresponding to MIUI 8 and above. If your system is too old, you need to upgrade it first.

Second, clear app data. Settings > Apps > Manage apps > Binance > Clear data > Clear cache. If clearing the cache doesn't work, try clearing all data (requires logging in again).

Third, check memory usage. If your phone's RAM is insufficient, it might cause large apps to crash. Close some background apps to free up memory before opening Binance.

Fourth, check the network environment. The Binance APP requires network verification upon startup; ensure your network is functioning normally.

Important Notes for Multi-Device Usage

If you have multiple Xiaomi devices (like a Xiaomi phone and a Xiaomi tablet), you can install the Binance APP on each device and log in using the same account. Binance supports simultaneous logins on multiple devices and will not force other devices offline when a new one logs in.

However, note that logging into a new device for the first time might trigger security verification (SMS code, email code, etc.), which is a normal security measure.

Special Note for Xiaomi Foldable Screens

If you are using a Xiaomi MIX Fold series foldable phone, the Binance APP might experience interface adaptation issues when unfolded in large screen mode (like the bottom navigation bar being offset, or some buttons not displaying fully).

The current solution is to set a fixed display ratio for Binance (16:9 or the default ratio is recommended) via "Settings > Display > App display ratio" when using Binance in large screen mode. If setting this is inconvenient, you can operate Binance on the cover screen while folded.

Regularly Update the Binance APP

Binance regularly releases new versions of the APP to fix bugs and add features. Since you installed it via an APK, it will not auto-update like apps from an app store. It is recommended to periodically visit the Binance official website to check for new versions, manually download the latest APK, and install it over the current one (no need to uninstall the old version; installing the new version directly will automatically overwrite and update).

The Binance APP internally will also usually prompt for version updates; clicking the update prompt will redirect you to the download page.

Conclusion

The core difficulty in installing Binance on Xiaomi HyperOS is the interception by the security scan. Once you master how to disable or bypass the security scan, the entire installation process becomes very simple. Remember three key points: download the APK from the official website, handle the security scan, and configure background running permissions. After installing, take two minutes to set up the battery optimization whitelist and notification settings, and you will be able to smoothly use Binance for trading on your Xiaomi phone.
