How to Install Binance on Huawei HarmonyOS 4.0? Disable Pure Mode + Full Installation Tutorial

Starting with HarmonyOS 3.0, Huawei phones introduced "Pure Mode," which by default prohibits the installation of apps originating from outside the Huawei AppGallery. This has led many users to find that the installation button is grayed out after downloading the Binance APK, prompting "To protect your device, installation is not supported at this time." However, this doesn't mean Huawei phones cannot use Binance; by following the correct steps, you can successfully install and use it. First, you need to register an account on the Binance official website, and then download the Android installation package via the Binance official APP to your phone—this is currently the most reliable acquisition channel, safer and more worry-free than downloading from third-party sites. If you are using an iPhone device, you can skip this article and refer to the iOS installation guide to complete the installation. Next, we will detail how to disable Pure Mode, grant installation permissions, resolve installation errors, and a series of other issues in Huawei HarmonyOS 4.0, allowing you to install Binance on your Huawei phone without any hurdles from start to finish. This article applies to all Huawei devices running HarmonyOS 3.0 and above, such as the Mate 60 series, Mate 50 series, P60 series, P50 series, and nova 12 series.

What is Huawei Pure Mode?

Huawei's Pure Mode is a security feature at the system level of HarmonyOS; when enabled, it only allows app installations from the Huawei AppGallery. Its original intent is to prevent users from mistakenly installing malware, but it also blocks the installation of legitimate APPs like Binance that cannot be listed in domestic app stores.

Pure Mode has two levels:

  • Enhanced Protection Mode: Completely prohibits the installation of external apps; the install button is simply unavailable.
  • Basic Protection Mode: Allows users to manually authorize the installation of external apps, but a warning pops up every time.

HarmonyOS 4.0 has Enhanced Protection Mode enabled by default, so you must first disable it or downgrade it to Basic Protection Mode.

Detailed Steps to Disable Pure Mode

Method 1: Completely Disable Pure Mode

This is the most direct method; once disabled, you can freely install APK files just like before.

Step 1: Open the "Settings" app on your phone's home screen. Find the "System & updates" option on the settings page and click to enter.

Step 2: On the "System & updates" page, find the "Pure Mode" option and click it. If you don't see Pure Mode in this location on your system version, try searching for "Pure Mode" directly in the search bar at the top of the settings page.

Step 3: After entering the Pure Mode page, you will see the current status is "On". Click the "Exit Pure Mode" button at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: The system will pop up a confirmation prompt telling you that exiting Pure Mode may pose security risks. Click "Exit anyway" to confirm the operation.

Step 5: Wait a few seconds, and the system will prompt that Pure Mode has been disabled. You can now install APK files normally.

Method 2: Keep Pure Mode but Allow Single Installation

If you don't want to completely disable Pure Mode (after all, it does prevent some malware), you can choose to temporarily authorize an installation.

In HarmonyOS 4.0, when you try to install an APK, the system will pop up an "Unable to install app" prompt. At this point, look carefully at the prompt box for a "Learn more" or "Go to Settings" option. After clicking it, the system will guide you to the Pure Mode settings page, where you can select "Allow this installation".

However, this method is not supported by all HarmonyOS versions. If you do not see the "Allow this installation" option, it is recommended to directly use Method 1 to disable Pure Mode.

Downloading the Binance APK File

After disabling Pure Mode, the next step is to obtain the Binance APK installation package.

Open Huawei's built-in browser and visit Binance's official website. On the homepage, you will usually see a "Download APP" entry; click it and select the "Android" version to download. The downloaded file is generally named in a format like "binance.apk" and is around 80MB in size.

During the download process, the Huawei browser might pop up a security warning telling you "This file may contain risks". This is a generic warning from the browser; for files downloaded from the official website, you can click "Download anyway" to continue.

Once downloaded, the file is saved by default in the "Files > Browse > Downloads" directory.

Important: Verify the Download Source

Be absolutely certain you are downloading the APK file from the Binance official website; do not get it from the following channels:

  • Unknown third-party app markets
  • Download links shared in social media groups
  • Ad links in search engines
  • Download addresses in SMS or emails

APKs downloaded from unofficial channels may be injected with malicious code, leading to asset security issues.

Common Installation Errors and Solutions

Error 1: "App package parsing error"

This error is usually caused by an incomplete download of the APK file. The solution is to delete the downloaded file and re-download it from the official website. Ensure your network is stable during the download, preferably using WiFi rather than mobile data.

If this problem occurs repeatedly, try downloading with a different browser. Huawei's built-in browser sometimes compresses or modifies APK files; downloading with the Chrome browser might be more stable.

Error 2: "Unknown source app" Installation Blocked

Even with Pure Mode disabled, the system might still block the installation due to "Unknown sources" settings. In this case, you need to enable the "Allow installing unknown apps" permission for your browser.

Operation path: Settings > Security > More security settings > Install apps from external sources. Find the browser you used to download the APK (like "Browser" or "Chrome") in the list and turn its switch on.

Error 3: "Incompatible with device"

This situation is rare but might occur on older Huawei devices. The reason is that the currently downloaded APK version requires a higher Android API level. The solution is to check the Binance official website for an installation package that supports older system versions, or contact Binance customer service for a compatible version.

Error 4: "Insufficient storage space"

Huawei phones will report this error during installation if storage space is tight. The cleanup method is to open the "Optimizer" app and use the "Cleanup" feature to free up space. Keep at least 500MB of free space available.

Necessary Settings After Installation

Disable Power Saving Mode Restrictions on Binance

Huawei HarmonyOS's power-saving management is very aggressive and might kill the Binance process in the background, causing you to not receive trading notifications.

Operation path: Settings > Battery > More battery settings > Find the Binance app > Select "Unrestricted".

Also, go to "Settings > Battery > App launch", find Binance, set it to "Manage manually", and turn on all three switches: "Auto-launch", "Secondary launch", and "Run in background".

Allow Binance to Show Notifications

Notification permissions might not be enabled by default after installation. Go to "Settings > Notifications > find Binance", turn on the "Allow notifications" switch, and enable all notification types (including banners, lock screen, sound, etc.).

Add Desktop Trust

On some Huawei phones, a warning badge will appear on the desktop icon after installing an external app. Long-press the Binance icon and select "Trust this app" to remove the badge.

Special Note on HarmonyOS NEXT

Starting in late 2024, Huawei began pushing HarmonyOS NEXT (also known as HarmonyOS Galaxy Edition), a pure HarmonyOS system completely detached from the Android foundation. If your Huawei phone has already been upgraded to HarmonyOS NEXT, the situation is different.

HarmonyOS NEXT does not support installing Android APK files because its underlying architecture no longer includes an Android runtime environment. Currently, Binance has not released a native HarmonyOS NEXT version of the app. So if your device is upgraded to HarmonyOS NEXT, you can temporarily only use Binance via these methods:

  • Access the Binance web version using your mobile browser for trading.
  • Use another Android device to install the Binance APP.
  • Wait for Binance to officially release a native HarmonyOS NEXT version.

Currently, the rollout scope of HarmonyOS NEXT is limited, and most Huawei phones are still running HarmonyOS 4.x, which is based on the Android foundation and can install APKs normally. If you are unsure of your system version, you can check it in "Settings > About phone > HarmonyOS version".

Precautions for Installing Binance on Huawei Tablets

If you are using a Huawei MatePad series tablet, the installation steps are basically identical to a phone, and you also need to disable Pure Mode first.

However, note one thing after installation on a tablet: the Binance APP is designed for mobile portrait mode, and in the tablet's landscape mode, the interface may appear stretched or incomplete. The solution is to go to "Settings > Display > App orientation", find Binance, and set it to "Forced portrait" or "Follow app recommendation".

Some Huawei MatePad models support the "App Multiplier" feature, allowing you to simultaneously display different pages of Binance in split-screen (e.g., viewing market trends on the left and placing orders on the right), which offers a good experience.

Handling Inability to Open or Crashing After Installation

If the installation is successful but the app crashes upon opening or gets stuck on the splash screen, try these methods:

First, check the network connection. The Binance APP needs to connect to servers for verification upon startup; if the network is unreachable, startup will fail. Ensure your network can access overseas websites normally.

Second, clear app cache. Go to "Settings > Apps > Apps > Binance > Storage > Clear cache". Note: clear "cache", not "data"; clearing data will require you to log in again.

Third, check system time. If your phone's system time is inaccurate (e.g., wrong time zone), Binance's security verification might fail. Go to "Settings > System & updates > Date & time" and enable "Set automatically".

Fourth, try uninstalling and reinstalling. If all the above methods fail, uninstall Binance and re-download the latest version of the APK from the official website to install.

Migrating from Another Android Phone to Huawei

If you previously used Binance on another Android phone, moving to a Huawei phone does not require any data migration. All of Binance's data (account info, trading records, assets, etc.) are stored on cloud servers. You simply need to install the Binance APP on your new phone and log in with your original username and password.

Logging in might trigger a security verification (SMS code, email code, or Google Authenticator); this is a normal security mechanism, just complete the verification as prompted.

If you previously bound Google Authenticator, remember to back up the authenticator data before switching phones. Otherwise, you won't be able to get the verification code on the new phone, requiring you to contact Binance customer service for manual unbinding, a process that can be time-consuming.

Conclusion

The core steps for installing the Binance APP on Huawei HarmonyOS are: disable Pure Mode, download the APK from the official website, install normally, and set background running permissions. The entire process takes about 5-10 minutes and is not complicated. The most crucial point is to ensure you download the APK file from official channels, as this concerns the security of your assets. If you encounter issues during installation not covered in this article, you can try searching for solutions in the Help Center on the Binance official website or contact Binance online customer service for one-on-one guidance.
